Red Rock Scenic Byway
If you’re short on time but big on views, this is the drive for you. The Red Rock Scenic Byway also known as State Route 179 is a quick but breathtaking route that runs from the Village of Oak Creek up to Sedona.
You will see iconic red rock formations such as Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte and Cathedral Rock. There are plenty of pull-offs for photos so bring your camera, because you’re going to want to capture this.

Oak Creek Canyon Drive
This one’s a classic. Starting in uptown Sedona, Highway 89A takes you on a scenic rollercoaster through Oak Creek Canyon, all the way to Flagstaff.
You’ll wind through forests of sycamore and pine, past secret swimming holes, picnic areas, and some of my all-time favorite camping spots.

If you’re up for a little exploring, check out West Fork Trail or simply stop at one of the many overlooks for a picnic with a view. And if you want the full scoop on this route, check out my blog post:

Dry Creek Scenic Drive
This scenic route takes you through Sedona’s west side all the way to Cottonwood. There are so many detours you can take from this route to see gorgeous red rock formations including Red Rock Loop Road. In addition, you’ll be near Airport Mesa, Coffee Pot Rock, Devil’s Bridge and Boynton Canyon.
Now, if you’re the kind of traveler who loves detours, Dry Creek Scenic Drive is calling your name. This route winds through Sedona’s west side, with plenty of side roads to explore.
Don’t miss Red Rock Loop Road for even more views. Along the way, you’re close to landmarks like Airport Mesa, Coffee Pot Rock, Devil’s Bridge, and Boynton Canyon.

Red Rock Loop
This short, sweet drive is a photographer’s dream. You’ll pass Red Rock State Park, Crescent Moon Ranch, and plenty of spots to stretch your legs or take a few snapshots.
It’s a great way to explore Sedona without hiking—just you, your car, and those red rocks. Find out all the best spots to stop in our post: A Stunning Sunday Drive on Red Rock Canyon Scenic Loop in Sedona

Schnebly Hill Road
Ready for a little extra excitement? Schnebly Hill Road is a rugged, unpaved road that takes you up above Sedona for some of the most incredible panoramic views around.
It’s a bit of a bumpy ride—high-clearance vehicles or 4WD recommended. Picture sandstone cliffs, winding dirt tracks, and a true “off-the-beaten-path” feel. It’s perfect for those who want a little taste of adventure without committing to a long hike.
Just remember: after rain, this road can get rough, so check conditions before you go! If you follow this road to the end you’ll find yourself in Flagstaff.
